Who are we looking for?

Deponti is seeking an experienced and dynamic Finance Director (FD) to join our team based in the Netherlands (Oss), with occasional travel between Deponti locations in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The FD of Deponti is responsible for overseeing the financial performance and ensuring the financial stability of the company while supporting our international expansion and rapid growth. This role includes strategic involvement in key business decisions, continuous improvement of financial processes, and managing the finance team to achieve continued profitability and performance goals. The FD will also play a crucial role in the management team, actively participating in discussions about company strategy and new market entries.

This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, balancing immediate day to day operational demands with long-term financial strategy. At Deponti you are challenged to act proactively, take responsibility and to challenge yourself and your colleagues.

You will be a key member of the management team, responsible for building and leading the company’s financial operations in a growth-driven, fast-paced environment.

You will make an impact by the following responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight and Performance Management:

    • Lead all financial activities of Deponti, including accounting, management control, cash management, and financial forecasting.

    • Designing and implementing the company’s financial strategy to support rapid growth and scalability.

    • Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial and cash flow planning to ensure financial targets are met.

    • Analyse and interpret financial data to provide accurate and relevant performance reports for various departments.

    • Oversee the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with the company's growth objectives. Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for financial matters with external stakeholders, auditors and financial institutions.

    • Manage a team of 6 finance professionals, including accounting, management control, business intelligence/ data and collections.

  •  Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensuring compliance with local and foreign tax returns - regulations, financial laws, and industry standards. (NL-BE-DE-GB)

    • Implementing risk management strategies to protect the company’s assets and minimize exposure.

  • Strategic Decision-Making Participation:

    • Work closely with the CEO and Commercial Director to identify and evaluate growth opportunities (international expansion, strategic partnerships, etc.).

    • Recommend financial strategies that support sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

    • Play an active role in structuring and analysing the company's (foreign) operations.

    • Actively participate in defining and implementing Deponti’ s overall strategy, including discussions on market entry, client acquisition, and investment decisions.

    • Contribute to the management team by providing insights into site /division P&L analysis.

  • Management and Development of the Team:

    • Lead, motivate, and develop the finance team of 6 as the team and company grows.

    • Promote a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

    • Ensure effective communication among finance teams and other departments based in different countries and divisions.

    • Create understanding on complex financial matters for non-financial colleagues.

  • HR:

    • Our FD is responsible for our HR department in cooperation with the HR staff.

    • Provide necessary support in recruiting new employees as needed.

    • Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations in different countries.

Your profile:

  • Experience and Education

    • Advanced degree in finance, accounting, or related field.

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, performance management, or management control.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting and performance management principles.

    • Experience in using an ERP.

    • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of Power BI.

    • Ability to lead cost reduction initiatives and improve financial efficiency.

  • Leadership and Management Skills:

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a financial team effectively.

    • Proven experience in team management, with demonstrated skills in leadership, communication, and managing complex projects.

    • Ability to work in a multicultural and remote environment, with occasional travel between different sites.

    • Active participation in management team discussions, contributing to business strategy and decision-making.

  • Personal Skills:

    • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build and scale finance functions while balancing hands-on execution and strategy.

    • Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving orientation, and strategic decision-making.

    • Flexibility, adaptability, and open-mindedness to thrive in a rapidly growing and constantly evolving company.

    • Collaborative and pragmatic personality, with the ability to work effectively with diverse profiles, avoiding authoritative approaches.

  • Languages:

    • Proficiency in Dutch is mandatory. English is strongly recommended. German is a plus.
